Our take: KWA’s ALL-NEW NS2-equipped KMP9R blowback fully automatic sub-machine gun [SMG] is at once brutal and yet breathtaking at the same time. The undisputed king of RPM, this blowback SMG can fire over 20 rounds PER SECOND, totaling over 1,200 rounds per minute! Solid, realistic, and quality built, the KMP9R is a step towards the future of Airsoft from KWA, as it allows for reliability, power, ultra high rate of fire, and realism without even slightly compromising ANY of the aforementioned characteristics.
In comparison to the KMP9R standard SMG, the KMP9R does away with the integrated forward grip and instead replaces it with a tactical rail underneath the front hand guard area. The KMP9R is quality constructed from a fiber-polymer composite for with a steel barrel, allowing for a lightweight and highly maneuverable SMG that is built as tough as it looks. The rear folding stock has been designed to easily and comfortably fold out of the way when it’s time to reduce the size of the weapon in tight-wound CQC scenarios.
Firing wise, the KMP9R features a functional/realistic charging handle and a functional bolt release. Much like a real firearm, the bolt locks in the "OPEN" position when you are out of ammo, in which case you can keep it in the open position, reload the gun with a full mag, then depress the bolt release to continue firing (it literally does not get any more realistic than this).
The KMP9R, equipped with the new NS2 gas system, fires crisply and consistently on either semi or full-automatic mode. The blowback and realistic sound that comes as a result of the SMG’s crisp firing is indescribable, as you must shoot one yourself to TRULY enjoy the juxtaposition of recoil and realistic firing noise with the smoothness that only a NS2-equipped GBB can deliver.
Of note, the firing mode selector (between full and semi auto) is a left-right moving switch that is integrated into the frame right above the trigger for quick firing mode changes. More interestingly though, you can fire semi-automatic (singular) shots EVEN on the full auto mode setting, as long as you pull the trigger only HALF of the way down. For a player who has gotten comfortable with this rifle, this feature essentially eliminates the need to have the KMP9R set on semi-auto, as you can gain access to it with a half trigger squeeze on full auto. In our opinion, it’s innovations such as this that have placed KWA so far in front of its other GBB-manufacturing competitors.
The NS2 Advantage: KWA’s proprietary/patented NS2 internal gas delivery system, implemented in this pistol, uses an advanced light weight composite gas piston with a two-stage internal expansion chamber to deliver gas more effectively to the chamber and BB, when compared to traditional gas blowback systems.
